Find Your Way Back to Your Sweet Spot
—And Stop Living Stuck
We’ve all been conditioned to run the race that other people set for us.
You know how it goes: you work hard, you achieve success, you acquire more responsibility, and you find yourself making more money. On paper, you’ve made it. But behind closed doors, you feel completely stuck.
In this season of life your daily work is important, but it slowly sucks the joy right out of you.
For a long time, Roger lived in that exact loop, squeezing his true passions "off the side of his desk" while his health and relationships paid the price.
Eventually, his prolonged stress manifested physically. His body literally began to shut down, sending a loud and clear message: You cannot run at this pace anymore.
When he finally found the courage to take the leap and launch Vivero Leadership, he did it with a deep obsession to solve this exact problem for other high-performing leaders.
Through his own journey of becoming the leader he’s meant to be, he realized that the path out of burnout isn't about fixing your weaknesses. It’s about gaining what he calls humble confidence. It’s about seeing yourself accurately, shutting down the critical voices in your head, and operating in your unique zone of genius.
To help leaders do this, we built a framework called the Real Leadership ID (RLID). Here’s how you can use its core principles today to start shifting closer to your personal "sweet spot":
1. Identify Your Conscious Competencies
Most leaders suffer from blind spots, but we’re often just as blind to what we do best.
True clarity comes from gathering structured feedback from people who care about you and have actually watched you face real challenges. When you look at patterns across different seasons of your life, you find a consistent fingerprint of how you uniquely add value.
2. Practice the "Three D's"
Once you map out your strengths and your unconscious patterns of self-sabotage, you need a highly targeted action plan built around three movements:
Double Down: Pinpoint the top 2 or 3 core competencies that bring you the most joy and create the highest financial or cultural impact for your organization—and focus your energy there.
Delegate: Strategically move responsibilities off your plate. Don't just delegate what you hate; delegate the things you can do, but that someone else in your organization could do better, freeing you up to double down.
Develop: Identify the essential skills required for your current role that don't come naturally, and invest in highly specific, short-term training to master them.
3. Activate the Feedback Code
Moving toward your sweet spot isn't a one-time event; it’s a regular practice. Senior executives rarely receive volunteered, honest feedback because of their positional power. You have to be proactive.
Immediately after you change a behavior or lead a meeting, pull trusted people aside and ask: "How did that land? Was that effective?" Cultivating this regular rhythm builds massive long-term traction.
When you finally align who you are at work with who you are as an individual, it connects your entire life. You don't just become a more effective professional; you show up as a better spouse, parent, and friend because you are finally comfortable in your own skin.
You don't need to be a carbon copy of someone else's leadership style. You just need to be you.
